I'm really scratching my head because i need some help from anyone in the know. I need a routable map of cyprus to go on my Garmin Nuvi 760. It has an sd card slot, which I am told that you can download other area maps to..

Does anyone have any routable maps that they can send me the files for, so I can transfer them to an SD card which I just happen to haye lying around.

I went to Garmin for the maps, and they said they can provide me with the relevant maps on, SD, but (are you sitting down!!! ) they want £75 for them!!!! I dont have the money, and if i did it would halve my budget for my short stay!!!

Can anyone help me PLEASE. If anyone does have any then that would be brilliant, and possibly save the holiday from being a disastrous case of stopping every so often to ask complete strangers directions!!

If there is a procedure for installing these to an SD card I would be most grateful for any help given... Thank you, and, errr maybe good night!!!!

Damn and blast it. Neither of them seem to work...... I dont suppose you'd be able to do it and send me the .img files its asking for would you. When i try to do it I get error 404 every single time i try and that currently runs to 10 attempts at the moment... Thank you very much for your help- by the way, its really nice to know that someone is out there who is a damn sight more switched on than me....

When are you coming out, and where are you staying?, The occupied north or the south side?

I used to have the free mapping, which is basically OK, but then bought the Garmin Cyprus maps. These are done by a local firm, and are very good. Only trouble is that they are about 120euro to buy, but they do include lifetime updates (I've had about 5 so far)

The files cannot be transfered to another card, but I might be able to help you out with my SD card.

To be honest, the island is so small, you can find most places with a good map, but finding one is another story.

If you PM me an e-mail address, I'll e-mail you the zipped file.

Mark, TBH you don't really need satnag; me and the missis have just been there and we hired a car for a week, picked up a local map and then did over 1000kms exploring the sw end. Did the Troodos mountains, Paphos, Akamas Peninsular, Polis, Limassol and visited loads of the historical sights. I did the driving and Alena did the map reading and we had no problems, it is a small island and navigagtion is easy. Ths signposting is very good for the towns and for the loads of tourist and historical attractions. We hired a 4x4 and even did a bit of offroading. Enjoy

I'd just like to say a big thank you to anyone and everyone who offered me help with the Cyprus maps thingy, but sadly after spending over 9 hours on and off trying to figure out how to get the bloody files onto my sd card I finally gave up, after 900 invalid and you cant do that error messages. so unless anyone is able to produce a REALLY REALLY simple (just like me!!!) guide then im fecked.......

managed to download mapsource
Didnt manage to get the files onto it though, kept saying invalid .tdb , error or something like that. Same story with the .IMG files. The files that i did manage to get onto my SD card did not a lot but lock the screen and unit, solved by resetti9ng and taking sd card and holder out

If Stanfords haven't got a suitable map, I reckon you're stuffed. :thumb2

I must have used them 7 times, and have always found the perfect paper map at a good price too.

I'd so unless anyone is able to produce a REALLY REALLY simple (just like me!!!) guide then im fecked.......

When are you going to Cyprus, Mark? I might be able to put the maps onto an SD card and send it to you. I haven't tried using those maps yet but it shouldn't be that difficult.

Failing that, as has been mentioned, Cyprus isn't too difficult to navigate. Whatever did we do before GPS, ehh...? Failing that, if, as I suspect you've got City Navigator 2008 in your 760 then that does have basic Cyprus mapping and later versions have more detail.

Hello Schtum. I have sent you a private message, and hope this is all ok for you... Thank you once again.... Mark(2jag)
