I've been working on some routes for a trip around France. All the routes worked out on the roads I want etc. Calculate the routes and a time, distance and directions is shown for all. However, when I come to reload the set of routes later I have to recalculate all the routes as they all show just the mileage but no times or directions in the tab. Is this another glitch with the latest Mapsource update?

Is it linked perhaps with the file format that you save in - .gdb as opposed to .gpx? Think I read somewhere that the latest Mapsource saves by default as .gpx ready for the Zumo (tho' I may well be talking b*****cks)

Default saves as GBD, however I've tried saving in both formats and when you return later have to go through the same recalculating. Just had a look at the ones I loaded onto the Zumo and it has managed to shave 20 miles off the trip down to Dover. Without zooming in to a few hundred yards it's difficult to see if it's altered it to a greater extent than I'd like.

Default is indeed now (.gbd) or (*.gbd) when creating maps on a PC, at least for the latest versions of Mapsource.

Are you using the device indoors?

If so, it will drop (or I think it drops) some of the data on view, simply as it 'knows' you are not going anywhere. It's sometime since I looked, so that may well be borrox.

Are you using the same maps and software versions on the PC (which is where I guess you are doing the original plotting) and the GPS device?

Wapping,

Indoors indeed! That may well be the short route explanation.

As far as I'm aware the the maps are the same on PC and device. Although the issue is on the PC as I haven't used the Zumo with these new routes as yet. Both device and Mapsource have been updated with the latest updates.

Ah I see, I had assumed you were loading them onto a GPS device. I have no idea why the data is vanishing on your PC.... I certainly have never had that problem.

Do you have several versions of Mapsource loaded on your PC and maybe inadvertantly switching between them, forcing a recalculation? I have no idea whether that is the cause, it's just a guess.

Asking Garmin is your best route (pun intended) perhaps?

Only the single version of Mapsource. I may try a test route this week, transfer it and see if it keeps the route true and it's just a PC based / Mapsource issue as it only happens when you save and then try to use the routes at a later date.

I'll try the version 6.13.7 and see if it behaves the same way. If not, then "Dear Mr. Garmin"

After contact with Garmin helpdesk I've downloaded the latest version of Mapsource 6.15.4 and the problem seems to have been resolved. I wonder what lurks waiting for me now though!
