It's a slightly odd place to post this I know, but the majority of those who have ridden in Morocco will know Foum Zguid and Zagora and that area.....We also had the privelege of having the UK organiser of the MDS on one of the Moto Morocco trips (Nuffsaid, Steve Dietrich) and Tony, a MDS competitor.

THIS STORY is well worth a read of :thumb2 :bow:bow:bow

Feck me and I thought you could get lost! :D

Prosperi started near Foum Zguid and was found in Tindouf 300km from the finishing line in Zagora.

I read that account on HUBB and couldn't understand how he could get separated near Foum Zguid and have no idea of which direction to go. Did the guy really have no idea of what the surrounding area was like? The route on his map was east from Lac Iriki to Merzouga. Heading east was a bit iffy as he could have missed Merzouga, but in these circumstances all he had to do was to head north to reach civilisation, and he could have done that at night time navigating by the pole star.

So why did he head south? Numpty.

Tim

Quite an impressive numpty, I think, looking at his subsequent record!

I guess exhaustion, dehydration and disorientation in sand storm conditions can really screw you up. :nenau

having done this event 3 times, I can understand how he might have gone the wrong way; your logical thinking is not exactly at its best when running consecutive marathon distances in the desert...
