Have taken delivery of a new GSA finished in matte blue and would like some advice on the best type of polish or sealant to apply to protect the paintwork.

I normally use Autoglym HD wax on cars and bikes with traditional gloss finish.

Any advice and recommendations would be gratefully received

On no account polish any Matt finish paint it will start to shine, there were some interesting customer complaints from folk who had been polishing their cars when it was the hot ticket a few years ago, what happened I don't know.

jetseal 109 is amazing stuff

Harley-Davidson do a 'special' polish for their Denim bikes

Thanks for the tip, will I need to wear a burka or park the BMW around the corner when buying this from an HD dealer.

Would hate to unintentionally offend HD showroom staff by showing up on a BMW

Best thing to clean it and keep the matte finish is spay on glass cleaner , that said I also use Autoglym resin polish on my blue gsa and the paintwork hasn't gone shiny

I highly recommend Gyeon Q2 MOHS. It's a bit pricey and has to be kept in a warm, dry place for 24 hours after applying, but you only have to apply it once and the paint is protected for life. I put it on my Ford Ranger in January 2015. 87,000km later, water still beads and runs off like it did the first day. I asked Polished Bliss (who I buy all my detailing stuff from) if it was suitable for the satin matte finish on my R1150GS Adventure and they assured me that it wouldn't add shine. They did say that it might slightly darken a flat matte finish. It didn't alter the finish on my GS at all when I applied it.

I've a thread I started (which I will be updating soon) about the detail I did on my GS. At the end of post #2 there's a video of me applying MOHS to the GS:

I just wipe mine over with a cloth and WD40, it comes up great. I use it on all the plastics and mud guards.

I do it just for a laugh.
when anybody says anything in banter , 9 times out of 10 its a good crack and i just come back with they are too fat to get there leg over one anyway.

I don't know about the Bmw matt effect colours, but I do know that some cars were given a matt vinyl wrap to achieve the finish. When you tire of it, pull it off and hey presto, a shiny car, without stonechips.
