Maxxi's do some road tyres that have a reasonable reputation if you don't need super sticky rubber, and come in a bit cheaper than the usual makes. I think they are Chinese in origin. They make a 'detour' adventure tyre, anyone used them?

It's Maxxis.....I thought you were on about tyres for an Austin Maxi:D

Anyway, I've not used them but a pal of mine uses them in the US and reckons they are as good as anything else and seem to last longer than more popular makes :thumb2

I bought a pair of their supersport tyres for my missus's TL1000s, she says they are pretty good, loads of grip and seem to be wearing well.
For only £125.00 good value as well.

Maxxis (used to be Cheng Shin  ) tyres are used a lot over on the ZZR forums for the ZZR600s. They all have very good reports, including one guy who does track days on them.

No direct experience myself.

I had a set of Cheng Shin Crashmasters on an RG125 when I was a nipper, hope they've improved since then.
But seriously, I've heard that Maxxis are very good tyres.

I had a set on my 650 Yamaha Dragstar and also on my Ultra Classic and was debating a set for my GS as well as I've never had any issues with them and they were a lot better than the standard Harley Dunlops.

Ive used SuperMax Touring and found grip to be good and tread life excellent. Their big trail tyre (I've forgotten the name) was similar to Bridgestone for handling and grip but less money. I would have SuperMax on my GSA except they dont do a 19" version.

Fitted a pair of Maxxi C6006 nobblies to my f650gs for around £109 delivered + fitting, 21inch front + 17 inch rear. They perform well offroad with plenty of grip in deep mud, although were very twitchy on wet asphalt when new (had a couple of moments) so have been over cautious around tight bends, but after around 30 road miles they seem to have bedded themselves in now. They are rated as a 4 ply tire on the Maxxi website, so have lowered the pressure for use offroad to around 18psi which does not seem to have affected road handling much, and the tread pattern is such that they are acceptable for trials (no continuous gap across tread width) unlike a full on motocross tire pattern. Not sure on longevity yet as too new to comment...

I've used their SM tyres (sort of race wet lookalikes) and they are very good.

Andres

Same experience here, they where great on my SM's and I have a set on my XR600 to. I also had a set of the Super Sticky Maxxis jobbies on my Tiger 1050, and they wore quicker, but stuck like shit to a blanket. IIRC They used to sponsor the SM race series as well. Nothing to fear from them.

Ah yes. I had a Cheng Shin Ditchfinder on one of my 125s. The India Rubber Company tyre was loads better.
