Hi All. Just read the article in MCN about how police forces in the UK have been directed by the Government to crack down on Bikers in the month ahead. They singled out the Welsh Police forces, suggesting that they will use unmarked bikes and cars, and helicopters to crack down on speeding and in their words anti social biking. Adding that bikes will be checked for conformity. Anybody care to comment or should we all just be a little more carefull in the next few weeks? Got to go now to put the baffle back in my zorst!:(

There's evidence already, the Welsh Assembly have apparently threatened to clamp down on bikes if last years accident trend looks like repeating itself.

Got stopped last weekend in Abergavenny on a routine check and was informed of the above.

Stay off the A470 and A40 should be easy on a GS (:

Read this on the Welsh Rideout Club website. You can't read their forum unless you're a member so I've cut & pasted it.

nice ride today (Monday) bit different

Icky me n Jen went over llangynidr to gilwern down to abergavenny then up to Hereford back down past willersly thru Talgarth to crickhowell back over the moors and home nice ride Very Happy

Lots of bikes out today

Now the important bit
look out for a black Honda blackbird CE 55 HAX its a copper also they got FJR 1300's as well as the usual police bm's and pans

apparently the cops are targeting bikes in the Abergavenny area due to 43 biker deaths last year so beware !!!!!!

they were pulling bikes into a laybye on the way into Aber (off the heads r/bout)

so be careful with loud cans coloured visors/headlamp covers and small number plates etc

This will be an ongoing thing the copper we spoke to said they wont be doing bikesafe/rideouts as they are concentrating on biker safety by increasing their presence on the road on weekends

So remember OBSERVATION OBSERVATION Wink Wink

Just a thought but perhaps 43 biker deaths justify intervention of some kind by someone....sounds like there wont be a lot of em left at that death rate

also I can't understand what goes on inside the helmets of some riders ..... why make yourself a soft target by having above items. I must be getting old...:rob

I have been told;) that theres an unmarked horsebox about on the roads of North Wales, and its not what it seems, keep em peeled chaps.

Don't say they are after fecking horses now..... :yikes........most of them will be OK though, it's only racehorses being targeted ;)

I don't think anybody is sugesting that intervention is unwarranted, its just a question of how its applied.

Again the majourity will pay for the mindless action of a few, allbeit the few appears to be getting bigger.
