MCN report on new GS

FFS Gazzabart, if you don`t like em, don`t buy em! BM* will be aware of faults and the next generation of bike will have addressed major issues and have improvements but those you point out aren`t common faults for the vast majority of bikes. Nothings perfect!

No trade mag will ever give a bad report because the manufacturers pay a huge amount in advertising.

Best thing to do with mag reports is read them, then ride the thing to make your own mind up.

I`m sure the new 12 is a great bit of kit and as far as I`m concerned, if it`s half as good as my 12 month old bike, it will be superb

Live with the journo`s, reports etc and just ride the great big ugly beauties

what i would like to know from BMW or MCN
has the gearbox / engine seal been changed
have the rear brake pads been changed
has the fuel pump been modified and changed
has the ignition antenna been modified and changed
has the front panel been redesigned to stop the paint bubbling up
has the rear shaft seal been modified and changed to stop it leaking so quick
have the crash bars on a GSA been welded and painted properly to stop the rust coming through under the welds
and these are just a few i can think of
add to it if you know any more

Has the front frame been strengthened so that a nasty stare from a squirrel won't break the steering lock resulting in a four-figure repair that will be refused under warranty?
Has the top box mounting been fixed so it doesn't fly off the bike on rough surfaces such as cats eyes?
Will the rear shock still last under 12,000 miles?
Will the power randomly drop?
Will the electrics randomly completely fail?
Will the side panels partially detach for that airbrake effect on the motorway?
Will the battery be so weak the bike won't start below 5 degrees celcius?

Across 3 years of ownership of two 1200GS bikes all of the above has happened.....in some cases repeatedly and dangerously.

Well I have ordered the new silver one witout all the gizmo's except the heated grips/Computer and i must say its does look great and roll on the 27th so i can get out and about, Pidcocks have got there silver demo one hidden in the back room ready for thr launch on the 16th if anyone is looking to have a sneak preview.

when did you order it beano? and is delivery the 27th of this month?
