OK - I admit to being a near total mechanical half-wit which is why I joined the AA, and which is why I have had reason to use them 3 times, so does anyone know if there is a course on basic motorbike repair / maintenance ?
Having been a on a couple of motorbike courses (and well impressed with what I've learnt every time) I wondered whether for example World of BMW etc have ever run a course on repair / maintenance.
I have no intention of stripping an engine, but the sort of thing I had in mind was the sort of thing anyone of us can come across on a tour eg repairing flat tyres, replacing cluth / brake levers, replacing cables, replacing brake pads or oil changes etc. I will have a go at some basic maintenance with my Riders Manual in one hand and a spanner in the other, but as is the same with everything, the best way to learn anything is to watch someone who knows what they are doing - as they can explain as they go along and show a few tips and shortcuts. Judging by the number of threads on the "Technical" forum, there must be a demand for just this sort of thing.
