I have a window of opportunity to sell my Mercedes GLC… Having sold my Defender, I’m looking to buy an Ineos Grenadier, and would prefer someone to get my GLC for the reasons I’ll outline.
Firstly, why a Mercedes GLC. Well it’s the lowest spec Mercedes where you get the REAL engine and proper Auto gearbox. It’s the Mercedes OM645 Diesel engine married to the 9-Sp Merc Gearbox that’s used in many more expensive cars further up the range (even some of the 300d are the same engine in a higher state of tune). Plus this powertrain is well tested on Sprinters (my partners brother drives for an international transport company, and their Sprinters regularly do 20,000km a MONTH!!!). This is an excellent engine/gearbox configuration. Additionally the GLC body shell is fully hot-dipped galvanised – they DO NOT RUST (many other cars are just zinc sprayed incl korean cars and many other European cars – the Merc is a step better).
Secondly – why THIS Mercedes GLC?
It’s one of the very last of the non-Hybrid. It’s a pure diesel, and IMO much better for it! The hybrid adds loads of complexity, and you also lose space in the boot which is taken up by batteries (and extra weight). Mine’s a March 2022, and mild hybrid was introduced from June 2022, so it's one of the last of the pure diesel cars. It easily achieves 50MPG!
The later GLC (from June 22) has too many (IMO) fangled "driver assist" features. Mine is standard Cruise (not adaptive, which I find terrible on Mercedes'), I am pleased to say it does not have lane-departure silliness, and stop/start is easily disabled
. It does of course have all the features of the "Premium" spec, such as heated seats, full ambient lighting (with 64 colour options"), the Turbine wheels are "Premium" and it has the nicer dashboard features, and of course the side-steps are included in Premium specification.
It’s been super-well looked after, no smokers, no dogs and no kids! At its last service, I has the transmission fluid changed for peace of mind (normally due every 5 years or 75000 miles). Next service due in 176 days.
MOT to 25 March 2026 – no advisories
TWO sets of wheels. The original 20 inch “Turbine” wheels, and I also have a set of (genuine) Mercedes 19” with all-season tyres (i.e. summer wheels and winter wheels). I leave the 19” on all year because the ride is better.
Silver with black leather.
Fantastic condition throughout (the rear subframe is a known weakness on these cars when 10+ years old, but I have fully treated my car with Dinitrol to make this a “car for life”).
Mileage is 26000. Car Registered 26 March 2022
Located in Clackmannanshire (FK10 2EG), but happy to meet-up in N England.
Looking for offers around £30k (cheapest on Autotrader is £31k)
