Metal mule crash protection

Thanks for the Info. I have just ordered a set of metal Mule crash bars, several weeks too late of course, but my previous crash damage repairs using super glue seem to be working. Its in my mind though how a small tumble can so easily damage the radiator. I don't mind if they are not the best bars for a world tour so long as they give me a bit of protection from the bike falling over.
My previous worry with this type of bar is fixing the bottoms to the aluminium engine block. Looking at some of the pictures of damaged bars though this does not seem to be an issue.

Sitting on my normal riding position, my knees dont touch the bars, however if I sit at the very front of the seat, the knees do touch, but since I dont use that riding position I dont think there will be a problem. btw I' m 1,80m tall

The screen is a Cee Baileys 18" Euro screen in light gray tint

theres a youtube video from metal mule which demonstrates the protection of the crash bars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r1YvO0IL-I

Aren't they a bit close to your knees?

FYI - ive got the adventure spec bars and @ 6ft tall my knees just touch the bars. This doesnt make any noticable difference though unless im wearing full solid knee protectors and even then its still fine.
