I buy a new France map book every three years. At £13 for good scale, very well detailed maps of a very large country, it's good value.

For 2010 Mr Bibendum and colleagues have improved on the standard fare.

Each of the 13 main areas of France now has a page or two of their own, detailing possible places to stay or eat. Being Michelin (and an egalitarian company, in the French style) the list includes expensive (but very nice) right down to the cheap and simple (but still very nice).

Pic's to follow when SmugMug starts working again.

By chance I have stayed at the hotel shown below. It is just as Michelin describe it. Excellent :thumb2 and not bad value, too.

With a bit of time and a bit of thought, anyone could use the thirteen quid map, the hotel suggestions in it and perhaps the 80 Virees a moto route suggestions, to make a very good holiday. Have fun!

That looks like a good purchase. Even with a GPS I still like a map and with the added info pages I recon I'll be purchasing one myself. I'll also look and see if they do one of Spain too.

Good find:thumb2

It's too big a book for a tankbag but will fold lengthways (hence the crease in my 2007 edition) to go into the top of a 1200 GSA pannier. I also roll it up and just chuck it in a plastic bag, strapped on the back.

An individual area map of France is about £3:50, so getting the whole country for fourteen is good value, right down to the smallest roads and all the 'green edged' scenic roads.

Three years is probably long enough to keep one for, before too many new roads appear, or in France's case many of the numbers change.

Buy with confidence :thumb2

Mine does need a bit of an update.. :augie

C'est bon, ne est pas? Must get one. What's the scale?

Just got the Benelux and North France book. 1:150,000 plus whole Europe route section.

Saves carrying several regionals, Good scale for finding POIs.

Haven't heard that for ages .... :rob

Egalitarian was my RE Teachers favourite word , yes he was a bit of a lefty and would respect everyone's view unless of course he didn't agree with it ... :blast
