Need a little help/advice with this one please.

Ok we’ve had Microsoft 365 for a while now and no longer want or need it as I’ve recently switched to an alternative email server.

So I’ve logged into Microsoft and cancelled my subscription which I think says runs out in November, but anyway that’s been cancelled and the email service abruptly stopped as you would expect but the buggers are still taking the £12 fee from my account (three months since I stopped the subscription) but I can’t see how to stop them taking the money out each month as its not on dd so not as simple as cancelling the dd.

Does anyone know what course I should take with this one?

Thanks Guys.

I suspect Microsoft want their full year’s subs from you. You may not end the contract midway through the twelve month period.
Or somesuch……
ISTR this being the case for business accounts.

If they've turned the service off, I really think they should stop taking the money.

It makes me glad I bought a single use license for MS office for my PCs rather than the subscription now. On the down side, that license is not capable of being transferred to a new PC so don't buy one if you think you might be changing in the near future.

I think says runs out in November

so you need to keep up the payments if you are still contracted

do the other elements of the subscription still work as it is odd they are not providing a service to the end of the contract?

if its not a DD or standing order ,

then it must be a recurring payment from your debit card

i cant remember, but these are harder to stop

best way if i recall is to get a new debit card , as the ref numbers change. and they payment fails

Your existing Microsoft account will work on any new PC….
I'm a bit of a luddite but I know someone who is very good with computers in both programmes and building them, but the company he put me onto sells fixed licenses which are separate from the Microsoft account and once 'attached' to a PC, it's no longer transferable.. and he did try :nenau

Never had any issues.

I have a copy on my laptop I use for work and a copy on the tower PC, but they both cost less than at microsoft, oh, they also don't get updated as there's no ongoing subscription but I only need word for typing reports and excel for bulk calculations of test results, oh and the email bit for work emails on the laptop.

As an example of cost over time, my previous tower PC was originally built with Windows 8, then rebuilt with 8 as a backup on another hard drive (I think it had 3 drives?) just in case the Windows 10 installation messed up and my brother could then use Win 8 to repair the PC. He's very good, but he launches into complex explanations and within minutes, everything he says goes right over my head :toungincheek
