I'm only getting 27.98 miles to the gallon on my 2000 1150GS for town use. Is that normal?

Calculating your mpg to 2 decimal places when using the BWM odometer and guessing when the tank is full - is that normal or just a bit AR?

That's p*ss poor - i get 27.99!

Do you have a Remus and/ot Techlusion as this will make fuel consumption drop!

No aftermarket exhaust. I've got a 12,000 mile service due shortly, maybe that will sort it. I've only had the bike a month or so, so I don't know whether it's always been like this.

Is there anything obvious that could cause such poor mileage? I don't throttle it that much.

Anyone else know what mileage they get for city use?

Getting about 36mpg at the moment on a 15mile 1/2 hr journey with 6 miles of dual carriageway, filtering the rest of the way.

Bit of a shock at first 'cos I was used to getting 220+ out of a standard tank.

(02 1150 with 50k on the clock)

I'm getting about 8.1 miles to the litre at the moment (in the M25 car park). Where do you buy fuel in gallons?

A dirty air-filter is the main culprit for excessive fuel consumption. Take yours out an have a look at it. If its filthy, then change it. (remove riders seat, undo the two clips that hold the air-filter cover on and take it out - a 2 minute job).

Although putting it back may take a bit longer

many thanks for all the replies. It's been a bit of a shock as I got MUCH better fuel consumption out of my 650GS. Nevermind I still love the bike.
