My '07 bike doesn't like starting when it's below freezing, which has been most of this week. :(

It turns over fine but I find I have to give it a bit of throttle to get it to fire - I was assuming that without a manual choke it would sort itself out.

Or am I being over optimistic in the system to figure out it's bleedin freezing?

Perhaps I just need to keep the starter pressed for longer - I've always had bikes that catch as soon as they turn over - perhaps the GS motor takes a few cycles before it gets going

There are a few recent threads about a reluctance to 'catch' when cold, i have approached my dealer and reported the problem and they are going to contact BMW for advice, this was a few weeks back now, so i phoned the dealer and he said that the oil may be the problem (changed in the last couple of years to 20/50 rather than the 10/40 used previously) sounds OK to me but I feel the problem may also be part due to a weak battery fitted as standard, so i have purchased a stronger battery, but due to pre Christmas workload i've not yet managed to fit it to the bike yet.

Shep You are 100% right, changed Oil to 10/40 no slugish starting problems anymore, But battery a little less charge on cold mornings.
