I have just bought an R12GS, and at some point would like to do a bit of touring. My boyfriend has a standalone Sat Nav (Mio 268+). This system has an adaptor which allows it to be fitted to a motorbike. I was just wondering has anyone any experience of this system, I see that the Garmin’s Sat Nav system seems to be the most popular with bikers.

the issue is is it durable enuff??
waterproof and take a knock is good..

do a search on the site you will find loads of stuff on here..

**Mio 268** i had the Medion version of the Mio, in it's self a good little unit.
Lasted about a month on the bike thou then went ***s up ( eerr! stopped working ) Bought a Quest1 not had a moments problem with it. 2610's are better and cheap at the moment.

I HAD A 269+ WHICH IS AN EXCELLENT...Ooops ....product ..very clear maps ...I used it on my bike with no probs ( used a plastic bag with bulldog clip. to keep the bad weather out).....it was hard wired to the battery. However it had to have a new screen as it 'popped' out of the supplied holder and got sandwiched between the forks and tank.....ooh err:eek: This could have prooved catastrophic....but I was lucky....I would reccommend a strap around the unit to make sure it cant fall out (cyclists toe straps would do it) ...also be sure not to 'stress' the power connection at the unit input as it is weak and can become detached inside, rendering the unit unusable. .....my two pennies worth. In the end it got nicked along with the car...now have Garmin 2610 .... (maps nothing like as clear).... but it is ruggedised for use on many bikes etc:thumb2
