Mirrors on cars are the same as hi viz coats on motorcyclists.

Rely on them being of any use to your survival when riding and you're a dead twat.

Having seen the first car do the U Turn it might have been that it gave you a warning of what was possibly coming and subconsciously you were already anticipating it. Trouble is on the current case law on filtering you are invariably going to end up being liable to some degree. Pays to slow down and creep by. You can guarantee a smart barrister would have relied on the first car doing the U Turn to bamboozle a judge who will always be looking for a compromise solution. All the ranting and raving in the world is not going to get you anywhere so well done on staying calm. Not even a gob full to yourself.
 
My mot tester is a big Harley guy. The only protective gear he wears is a lid. Because he needs too.
An fully armoured race gloves, for smashing mirrors off cars that don't use them.

Especially when you point out that while the 'bikes are dangerous' :blagblah perception has some truth in it -
It's often because so many Bike crashes also involve a car - which has just done exactly what they've just done.
IF it gets them to think at all, the reaction is often :eek: 'Oh! i didn't think of it that way!'
... Well maybe, just maybe you'll think of it 'that way' from now on. :green gri

Also having the first u turn maybe time to turn on more lights as nothing on coming, headlights far more effective than "Angel light" or led running lights.

Errrm - it's a Twin Cam RT - two effing great dipped headlights on permanently!

Some interesting comments - for what it's worth, I thought I handled it well; the first u-turner did not go unnoticed, it made me think twice and probably sub-consciously slowed down my rate of overtake (which wasn't very fast to start with as you may have noticed). Just before the video started I had been sat in the queue waiting for a lull in the on-coming traffic anyway.

I saw the car move left and thought 'He's not..' and he did...so I was already moving towards the brakes. The only annoying thing was the unwarranted revving as pulling the brake on took priority over what the throttle was doing - clutch in so irrelevant from control perspective, just inelegant.

I saw the manoeuvre, I stopped in time, I didn't lose my rag and maybe, just maybe, the next time he tries that he'll look first and not wipe out some poor sod who isn't as careful as I am. Admittedly, if I'd been 5 feet further forward there would have been nothing I could have done to avoid it - so luck will always play a part...and may it continue to do work in all our favours.
 
Never mind mirrors, can beat that out today on the new gsa headlights and leds on approach a single carriageway hump backed bridge, slow down sound horn and start to cross , on the apex of the bridge I see a 4x4 start to come onto the bridge so I have to stop , he continues onto the bridge straight towards me stationary in the centre of the road.

He continues the 20 yards directly towards me and at the last minute stamps on the brakes and just stops before running into the bike. He then gestures for me to reverse back off the bridge.

How .........?

Eventually he starts to reverse, takes him about 2 minutes and almost hits on the bridge parapet twice, as I pull forward he goes off on one about why I had not reversed off the bridge and where had I come from and I must have been speeding.

Looked the old fart straight in the eyes and just shook my head before riding off, felt like punching his lights out !
 
Given your position could he even see you. You could have moved out to get a better view and away from the cars and then move back in when traffic comes.

A rough guideline is over 20mph faster that the traffic could get you a ticket for careless, that's at least 3 pts, personally I do about 10ish so I can stop like you did.
