Mod to standard F650 exhaust

I know I have read something here or on the chain gang about a mod to the standard left hand exhaust.
All you do is pull the restrictor out of the end.
The question is has anyone here done it and is it worth it.
I would like some extra power but I do want to increase the noise level a little, I keep getting cut up and even find pedestrians walking out in front of me, they say they just don't hear the bike!
I was looking at an new silencer but from what I have read it's a lot of money for no real benefit.

As you say there has been much discussion on this on the chaingang.It seems that the exhaust innards differ depending on model year and this can make a big difference as to how easily the baffle is removed.I don't think you'll see any power increase,just slightly more noise with an increased fuel consumption as far as I can make out.
