its been a while since i had an airhead well over two years and as far as i can remember all my other ones have had metzler me 99? tyres on the front and a metzler of the same pattern/style on the back .im sure you can now get a more modern style of tyre by that i mean a better profile ,better grip etc ,in short im looking for a better set of tyres for a road going airhead .
what are people using nowadays (not for a gs)

i'd be looking at bridgestone BT45s. work brilliantly on my guzzis and most other old shitters.

I have Avon Distanzias on mine and they are good on the road.

I'm using Avon Roadriders which seem fine.

Also BT45's, Conti Go's etc... At the mo I am using an old set of Avon Roadrunners which also seem fine, even in the shite weather we sometimes/often have... I push the old RT along a fair bit and the good thing about old buses is they give you plenty of warning...:)

I ran the Conti Go Tyres on my 100RS. Nice grippy tyres that rolled beautifully but the wear rate was frightening. I took out two rears in around 2,000 miles each. Not what you expect for a low powered airhead. Cheap though.

Watch the sizes for BT45's as they run very close to the swinging arm on twin shocks. go for the smaller size 4:00 i think.

I have a pair of the new conti radials on my r100,I will let you know how they work when I have sorted the bloody wiring loom out ,eeek it gives me a nightmare thinking about it

Ive got a set of these arriving on Monday ........ have you had chance to test yours yet ?

I have Michelin Pilot Activ on my R100RT. The bike felt completely different when I got these on and really improved my confidence in the bike.

Mikeyboy will now come on and tell me what I actually have on my bike, as he ordered them.

I agree, these are great tyres, a very real improvement on the tyres fitted back in the day. They also seem to last a long time and really resist squaring off.
