Hello fellow Tossers. I bought a stock silencer from this parish and have had it Ceramic coated by Zircotec, have to say for what it cost it was a very nice job well done, www.zircotec.com
The modification was "borrowed" from someone again from this parish and I am very pleased with the difference in the overall sound that it has produced.
One thing that I can say is that the bike seems to pull better and now has a propensity to lift the front wheel with the least of provocation

I have taken some video of the Modification process and also some footage of the road test, they are YouTube links so I hope they work :hide

Apologies for the poor video quality, it was filmed on my GoPro Hero 7 Black and is crystal clear until you save it to YouTube???

Your links are to the mod AND you cleaning your bike?

do you find that high RPM the flow gets confused and it drops in power any?

I never noticed when i did mine, When i had my akropovic i noticed it was less restrictive and is a lot more free flowing, i know this because i kept dropping the baffle screws lol.

Lol, butter fingers. Not sure what the quote from Beaver was that you put on your comment? The links to the videos are both the right ones? Have you had a look?

Yes links work fine, very informative. Beaver and myself were early adopters of the modification you undertook. Mine was reference to the RPM

Certainly haven't noticed any drop in power at higher RPMs and on the road tests there were some quite energetic handfuls grabbed ;)

You can change to 1080 in video it looks perfect. For some reason it's downloaded in 360p to YouTube,

Strange one.. when I first ran your second video, it was you clearing your bike.. but now they both work fine??

Anyway... so you don't get any drop off at the top end? got to say I've not tried it on my new bike but will give it a go.. Think I did 10 holes so may be just a bit too much... what drill size you use? (okay, just re-watched it 9mm x 7 holes)

Hi Beaver,

I haven't noticed any drop off at all, I do think it has made a difference to how the bike rides, it does seem a bit more responsive now.

I kind of though that at the top end, it did appear to restrict it a bit.. Or maybe its better at the bottom / mid range so it appears less at the top end.
Just listening to the video clip again.. when its going a fixed speed can you hear the engine coughing a bit and missing? (around the 6.30-7.30 area) I got this on mine as I remember. not sure if it was just the sound as you could not feel it, but I'm thinking yours does the same?? or is it just the wind on the mic?

Have had a closer listen and it does sound a bit fluffy, what are your thoughts? Was thinking about getting the ECU mapped at some point can't afford it at the moment though, lockdown and furlough :blast

that's another tin of worms.. where would you have it done? not sure if it is missing or its just the way its recorded, but as I say, I could hear the same on mine? why opening up the exhaust would do this I don't know. It's not like its gone full open like the Akro?

I was having a flick through a few articles about the learning and Adaptability of the ECU on the GS and wondered if resetting the Mixture settings as per the attached screenshot might make any difference?

I doubt that allows the mixture to be changed otherwise the clever ones out there would be doing it.
It will be to recalibrate the mixture following component replacement eg. oxy sensors.

yes, I'd guess it put it back to std, and then the ECU will change itself from there. In theory it should account for any mod's to the system (within limits) and you are less open doing this than with a Akro, but I was thinking if it did make the flow turbulent in the end can, the missing may be due to too much back pressure over the std system?
As said before, I've not fitted mine to my new bike but I may give it a go and see how it goes (once we are allowed to play out again!!)

Always great to see personal mods and improvements made to a GS.:thumby:
