A quick question for the monolever experts here.
What is the correct length of the front wheel spacers on a monolever G/S.
Realoem.com have 2 listed left and right. I have 1 (26mm) on my bike and it is not right, the wheels are out of line. The swing arm is definitely central in the frame.
Any help greatly appreciately.
Thanks all.

Ians,

You only need the one bush to set your wheel central. The wheel spindle pulls through to take up the slack in the other side. I've shimmed my wheel a couple of times when I've greased the bearings but to be honest I've never bothered checking to see if the wheels central between the fork legs - I've always put it together using the original spacer. Could be a mile out for all I know

I don't think the wheel alignment was ever any good from new. The chap who does my MOT's was saying that some of the new Jap bikes are so far out of alignment from new they should technically fail their MOT's. Ask Kenny about his headstock on his new Honda CB one million something- 15° out of alignment springs to mind :D

The front wheel's on both my bike's dont line-up central with the back wheel. Come's in real handy when you're setting a sidecar up!

If you'rs is too bad I'd have thought you would've been having serious brake calliper to brake disc issue's.
Safe riding Karl.

Thanks Rob and Shafted, that has put my mind at rest. I'll put it back together as it was and hope for the best at MOT time.
Thanks again.

.

Thats where your going wrong - BMW used to set bikes up for those that drive on the left side of the road and those that drive on the right.
So the swingarm is biased to one side or the other, never central. :rob

SO . .

. . one of my Brit machines must be set up for ridin' on the right of the road, heh.

According to the old bmw bible - but i don't know anyone who really gives a feck about it. :D

Best way to line the front wheel up is to eye it with the timing chest cover, middle.

Ooop's I've done it again. Given the game away.:):)
