Hello to any of the dudes we met 3 weeks ago outside the Mont Blanc tunnel. Nice GS1150 amongst the 'flock' and was chatting to a nice bloke who'd had an 1150 that he was breaking as the shaft drive had given up the ghost.

We had a great trip down to Portugal via Italy, France and Spain and my wife's F650 GS never missed a beat. Mike P in Cardiff did a fab job of sorting us out before our trip after BMW's failure to spot a couple of glaring issues on my wife's bike.

Going down to Portugal again at Christmas on my 1150 Adventure with the missus on hers and I cant wait.

Probabaly wants moving to the travel section, but welcom realboss :)

I would be interested in hearing what the issues were - always nice to know potential problem areas so you can keep an eye out on your own bike :)

Yeah sorry I posted in the wrong place. BMW overlooked the fact that my wife had a different rear tyre than the front one (I guess I am guilty of not checking that too but they should definitely have checked it when it went in for its service. The other thing they failed to pick up on was the chain was knackered and would never have got us to Portsmouth let alone Portugal. Granted they did fit us in at short notice to fix it the day before we left but they charged us full price no discount even though we explained what had happened. The chain was very slack and had it been tightened would have probably thrown my wife off.

There you go. Its not a main dealer put down but we wont be using them again. Mike's the man for us.

We were down in Portugal this June, we stayed away from the big towns and had a great time, love to go again, but there's just so much else to see/do :(

Yes Dave, it was great to meet you. We'll have to hook up next time we head down your way. Hope you're enjoying your JD, as I am!!

Trying to settle back into work but my brain just cant; keep thinking of nice A roads in Europe!!

I lived in Portugal for 10 years so for me its home from home so to speak. You are right it is gorgeous to travel around and the central and northern regions are very undiscovered as most tourists head south.

My wife and I stayed on our honeymoon 6 years ago in the Almeida Bucaco Hotel which is stunning (inland from Lisbon), and travelled around a lot then, and we have made about 4 or 5 trips around the country as well as Spain and France.

There is so much else to see/do, I agree. I guess the risk is always that we end up spending so much time trying to see the next thing that sometimes we dont get a chance to fully appreciate what we've seen already!

I think we met at Bristol Motorrad the day before you left. I finally got my bike fixed after two more visits to the dealer that week!
Glad that you both had a great trip.

Hi Richard, yeah we remember you, and were thinking of your words when riding through France stopping for coffees etc. Although we hit a torrential downpour on the first day, once through that it was marvellous.

Heading back to Portugal for a quick 10 day trip for Christmas so really looking forward to it again.

Hope all is well with you, and glad the bike is sorted...finally!
