Montana 5.0 Now available

Just plugged my Montana in and was prompted to update to Version 5.0 of the Firmware.

I've upgraded it but so far haven't found what the updates actually are.

Anyone know what's been fixed or added?

Mine's on 4.90. Says it's up to date. No updates. How come you get preferential treatment?

Using the 'webupdater', the site willtell you the fixes, additions and deletions......and looking now clearly shows v5.0 is available.

I just plugged it in to my PC and it said 5.0 was available, previously I too was running 4.9. It doesn't look like it's giving us anything too special though.

Yes...usual Garmin bollox though Timpo. If you go looking, you find it but 'Garmin Express' was still happy in the belief that 4.9 was the latest version.

I connected my Montana to my PC this morning, sparked up WebUpdater, and, within a minute, v5.0 was loaded.

Job done.

Timpo - once I'd updated it to v5.0 - I wanted to put the next crop of routes into the Montana, having put them onto the Zumo.
So - in goes the USB plug and Garmin Express jumps into life squawking that an unsupported device has been connected.

I made the mistake of using Garmin Exasperated to try and update my Montana. It froze halfway through and wouldn't, communicate through the USB. A hard reset sorted that out, luckily I backed up my profiles recently.

Nowhere does it say Montana. So, I look a little deeper, and find that you are not the only person trying to Express an update into Montana....

All the searches in Google I do using 'Garmin Express' with 'Montana', not one is giving me 'suitability' or 'success' regarding updating firmware......
So, I am suggesting that you do not use the Express method, but download the webupdater or use Basecamp, as Basecamp also scans your device and then checks for updates and prompts an update is available.

I just use the Garmin Communicator plug-in for Firefox. Works
