anyone any thoughts on this one?
Its stalling the engine at low speed and when stopeed.
Also wondering if you have any thoughts on using Castrol Driveline Syntrax Universal 75W-90 oil for the clutch
I have a lot of it thats why i am wondering.
The bike doesnt have it in now, just the oil that i bought it with in, used it for maybe 6 hours since bought
2001 model

Cheers for any help! :thumb2

The best oil for all HRC trials engines is Elf HTX740 - no more clutch drag

It's about £25 per litre though:blast

Can't vouch for Montesa/Honda gearboxes, but the various trials bikes I've had I've used Rock Oil "Light gear oil" with good results. The clutch dragging when cold is a common problem with a lot of bikes though, my Beta was terrible for it. I found that if I let it tick over for a while, just to get warm, it was better. Always good to have somewhere to aim for when you first stick it in gear though, just in case.

i swear it gets worse

its tricky to get into neutral so i think oil change first, then clutch out to make sure its been assembled in the right order in the first place

assume nothing!

:D

shed loads of people on trials central are saying ATF is fine and also to try the metal dimpled clutch plates... now the question is WHAT metal dimpled plates and WHERE form???

CR250 plates fit so they reckon.... :)

a guy off trials central posted this:

Having run monts for the last 15 years would suggest the oil is the most important if clutch is correctly functioining.
Never run the Elf apart from in a brand new 315r 2001. Everything else including this one when oil was due for a change has been run on ATF which works exceptionally well and is very good value.
Would suggest you try ATF oil first, maybe even change oil twice to flush whatever is in there. If no improvement then investigate the plate options above.
Other thing to check is master cylinder seal and slave cylinder seal to makes sure both are functioning correctly. I have had a pin hole in a master cyl sleeve which casued pressure to drop slowly with the lever pulled in. Also makes sure the adjustment on the lever is adjusted correctly.

interesting - gonna give the above a go first!

... and the ATF has fixed the job

No need for exotic oils :D

also the fact that whoever assemebled the clutch did it wrong :)

the discs were all out of order. ha ha get in.
