Right section? Wrong Section, time will tell. Just thought I would post up a bit of GoPro footage from August this year when me and my 12 year old lad were off around Europe on the GS LC. First bash using the GoPro software, loved the Umbrail, this first section just before the gravel bit is pretty sublime and much more fun than the Stelvio. We were behind 3 German registered GS LC's on the way up. We got to the top where it was raining again, turned round and did it again :)

Ambient India by Zeropage, it's from a Royalty free music site so no probs with You Tube copyright etc.

Nice one but ...... If you have more footage you'd do well to edit it down with different camera angles and no burst lasting more than a few seconds as it's difficult to keep the viewers interest. :beerjug:

This was a very quick edit using only one camera angle but with a few stills thrown in.

Cheers Tim, I've got some footage from the second run up from the Camera side mounted on my Helmet and from the Chest Harness and have saved it as a project so can cut and drop some shots in from a different perspective.

As a side note, I'd have almost ignored the Umbrail if it wasn't for a few pointers I found searching on here as I was to focussed on Stelvio, as it was the Umbrail was a far better road to ride in every aspect than the Stelvio :)

Fluffmeister, nice one taking your lad,if you haven't already done so help him make a scrapbook of your trip/s . They have very special meaning to young people as they get older and reflect. My girls have all there's documented. One guy on here did a trip with his daughter and did some really top write up and photos using iMac. Grandaughter doing short trips now. Both looking forward to longer trips.:thumby:

Tim have seen your video post before. Just makes me want to be there, nice repost.:bounce1

Let it run here a bit, until the Francis Ford Copulators have had their fill. Then it's of to Photography or the pub, where the rough boys play.

Isn't that a ZZ-Top track? Are they in the pub to? I. Thought I'd drop it in here as I'd not really have thought much about the umbrail had it not been for trawling the forum.

Thread now copied into the Photographhy section.

Hits and tips on video making welcome.

Just the mention of the Alpenrose Hotel brings back great memories of me being there this August on my way up the Umbrail. I did'nt research this pass before setting off, and raised an eyebrow when told half way up by a German guy, that the road surface changes to gravel. This gravel section transpired to be high up and near the sumit but rather straight compaired to the very tight hairpins on the way up (glad). I, probably like many others made the turn at Santa Maria heading for the Stelvio not expecting the Umbrail which was stunning and very quiet re traffic. I was a bit suprised that at the end of the pass I was almost on the summit of the Stelvio. A great day out.....:):):)

a few years ago we stayed at the Hotel Alpina in Sta Maria which is on the corner as you turn up to go to the Umbrail. great spot to stay. a couple of evenings we disappeared up the Umbrail and would pop out as you say near the top of the Stelvio we would then have a play on a clear road and watch the sunset from the top; quite breathtaking. back down the Umbrail in the dark for a few beers before turning in, brilliant :thumb2

one of the the views from the top of the Stelvio as the sun sets.

I've got to upload the other section of the video, from the dirt section up to the top, it lashed down, like someone hit the "Monsoon" switch after the dirt section on the small bridge. As we were heading up we where caught by a BMW Motorrad liveried quad, that looked more like an F1 car (had an S1000RR Engine) and a BMW Z4 Camera car, and those boys were motorring :)
