Been looking at some stats for other BM's in motorcyle mags.

Noticed that R1150RS and R1100S models make at least 10 BHP than the 'GS.

Where does it come from? (I know BMW make them that way)
Engines are similar so what has been done to increase the power?
Can it be done to a 'GS?

I've already got a Remus, 'Y' Piece and K&N filter. Looking into chip, but would like just that little bit more.

You are almost there in the way to get those extra 10HP.
To your setting add a wider air intake (motorworks), balance the carbs for the new setting, shed as much weight as possible (on the bike) and pile up mileage till the engine start loosing himself.
You'll be susprised what a difference it can make...
Don't forget to reset the TPS after replacing the air intake.

I would hazzard a guess that the cams are different and perhaps the valve sizes.

Fallert do a 98ps tuning kit for the 1150GS. Unfortunately the site is only in German so no idea what the kit contains but it does sound very interesting. I have mailed them for further details but so far they haven’t responded. If anyone has any further info on the kit, I’d be very interested to hear more.

Should hopefully be re-fitting my race can to the 1150 soon along with TFi, 1150RS intakes and a K&N – should be fun!

Try Babelfish at http://world.altavista.com/ just enter the URL, set for German to English and let it do the work. Not a bad translation but you have to guess some of words by context....

If you do a search on summat like "must go faster", Panzer Patrol detailed all of the work he has done on his, including 1100S cams. Makes interesting reading as there are about 6 or 7 threads in the series, progressing from simple add-ons to cam changes.

Are you there, Panzer?????

Been following Panzer Patrols “must go faster” posts for some time. Made for great reading. What a pioneer he is. I have another GS riding mate who has gone down a similar route but also has gas flowed heads on his 1150. 137mph and 2nd gear “off the throttle” wheelies! Very nice.

According to google translate the Mtec power up kit contains the following:

“KAT along admission of the Lambdasonde, K&N filter, pressure control valve, R-S syphons, Tuning chip, air intake Racing, 2 x High performance ignition cable. Power fullly for the 1150 gs. Attention none ABE only achievement.”

I’d hazard a guess that the kit is very similar if not identical to the Fallert kit. Doesn’t seem like there is anything that special in there really – although I have no idea what a “pressure control valve” could be! I reckon you could get the same performance gains for a lot less outlay just by speaking to Motorworks and ordering the right bits. In fact it surprises me that they haven’t already got an 1150 power up kit in the catalogue.

Hi Red...yup, still here!

Hi Dr Alf, the pressure control valve is the fuel pressure regulator. Some guys (mainly 1100S riders) have tried fitting the one from the K models which has a higher output. The theory is that by pumping more fuel, at a higher pressure, to the the injectors it would increase fueling and in theory make it go faster.

The techlusion box does the same thing. It adds extra juice and is tuneable to some extent through various rev ranges. A chip would also do the same. I am still not sure it would be of any greater benefit to use a K fuel regulator. However, I usually get bored witless during the winter so I might give it a try.

My suggestions for going faster are:
1. Y-piece
2. Legal Race Can
3. Techlusion or chip
4. RS inlet trunks
5. K&N
6. Carbon fibre inlet duct thingy
7. S Cams
8. Skimmed head to raise compression and a bit of gas flowing

In that order for cost to power benefits

Keep the faith :D

So whats the upshot for the easiest distributer for a power up kit of some sort based on past expirience?

Hi Stef, good point!
What I should have said was, buy the Remus Revolution, take out baffle pipe and throw away. What you then have, is a can which has the same size hole up the middle as the Remus race can....but, it has the legal stamps on it.

Ta da:beerjug: Legal race can, well thats what I meant anyway, sheesh:D

Good one. Cheers CC. Might wait until after I have fitted my go faster bits though. Stef, a Remus revolution can will pass an MOT and will also pass any police inspection. The old Remus race can won’t pass either inspection as I found out when PC Plod pulled me on the first day of using the race can and duly issued me with a 14 day nasty. I haven’t had the balls to refit the thing yet but I’m working up to it:rolleyes:

Have a Y and race can on mine... took the can off and replaced with the standard for the MOT and the bike seems better for it pulls very clean from low revs all the wy to the rev limiter.

Race can now collecting dust!

Panz..

Don't want to buy a chip but what are the low'ish cost options you'd now recomend and in what order to say a 150 quid budgett.

I would have gone K&N and looked at some high performance plugs but now I'm intrested in these RS ducts you mention

You might find you regain the low end power you loose with the race can if you fit the chip.
