Stewy - if you're that worried about increasing power output, then maybe better looking at a different bike :P

thats it i recon, im gonna play wi my cam timing at some point tho,to see if they are dialled in as badly as a jap,got 7 more horse on a bandit doin this,FOR FREE

Stock answer #1 to anyone who asks this question... ;)

Usual mods, in no particular order, are:

Y piece
end can (Remus or WHY - road or race)
EFi chip
inlet tubes (airbox to engine)
airbox inlet
powercommander
nitrous
turbo/supercharger (search the site & you'll find it's been done...)
cam & piston changes (RS model) for higher compression ratio & valve timing
gas flowing the heads

I'm sure there are others, but you get into a debate about cost vs degree of improvement.

mods

Yes Thanks for that Paul

Rolf .why would i get another bike when the gs is the best bike on the market
had jap bikes but seen the light and got a bm i have had it 6 years now they are mint

I was not that worried about the power just wanted to no if i was waistng me time with the miods i have got thats all

why dont you ride your old stuff where the sun dont shine (joke)_ if you can take it ha ha ha

All that will make it SOUND faster, but actual velocity improvements. Don't waste your time and money.

Just junk as much weight off the bike as possible is the best MPH per pound improvement.

Surely the bike would just go through the hedge really fast without the rider on board :nenau

Stewy - don't try and make it as a comedian, mate, it's not happening for you  - all I was suggesting is that if you are going to spend money on a GS spending it on go faster stuff is a waste of time and money far better spent on fuel and oil changes (6 years, 11000 miles = not a lot of use?); Uncle Steptoes's right - get rid of the weight, first thing might be to junk that Remus can and Y piece and fit one of Bryn's stubby pipes (probably make money by selling the Remus on fleabay too! :thumb2

.

Yeh my jokes are rubbish rolf
speed wast what i was after just a bit more umphhh but i am going to leave it how it is for the moment when i took the std cat and pipe of that saved a considerable amount of weight whats more is she who must be obayed and kept in the dark wont be hanging on my back due to the new arrival so theres another 10 stone gone yippppeee:beerjug::oonyack

Omphh.

easyest way to improve acceralleration (take off quicker) fit a lower ratio bevel box. Put an 1100 box on an 1150 and it does make a difference, still had 122 out of mine and it is brilliant in heavy traffic. Simple to change and you can get one for less than £200. If no like change it back and sell it.
dave (low ratio) GS.
(1100 ratio 11/33 = 3-1. 1150, 2.85-1.

Stewy, just make some sensible mods like the Y pice and air filter, and can
and then just ride your bike you'll be amazed how quickly you can catch up with sports
bikes, even going on the outside of them on bends :augie , No seriously Stewy just enjoy your GS its all the bike you'll ever need.:thumb

Sound Advise Bigal
Ihave had many a good ride on it and am totaly converted to the GS

Erm, I thought the 1100 boxes were completely different to the 1150's?

He's talking about the final drive, they're interchangeable between models.

There's a really useful comparison site for the diferent gearboxes & FD ratios to play with

...HERE...

If you want your bike to go faster you might want to junk some weight as previously suggested and then spend your money on some decent suspension. Lots of guys on here suggest this is the best go fater mod they have ever made:thumb

Paul, interesting reading about your proposed modifications. I've 2 projects taking shape, one with the 1100, and one with the 1150.
The 1150 has been dynoed as standard and with the usual 'Y' piece and silencer conversion.
The cylinder heads for both bikes have now been extensively modified, although, as usual, there is always another stage!
During the modifications 2 exhaust valve seats were found with hairline cracks, this has caused a delay while new seats were fitted.
Both bikes will be on the dyno in a couple of weeks time to quantify the gains, this giving me an idication of the potential of the 2 motors.
If you're interested, I'll keep you informed.

I've now got a set of headers from an 1100 sat in the garage, waiting for me to get time to clean them up. I've also got hold of a cat replacement pipe which should join the headers to the Remus I've currently got fitted. All of this is to allow me to replace the 1150 singlespark heads with a pair of R1100S twinsparks, but I have been wondering which cams to fit... Any suggestions out there? Which cams will give the best combination of torque/power? I was thinking of using either the std GS cams & just swapping the ones over from my existing heads, or getting some RS or S cams instead...

Is Vendome still around?

You need to have a look at the power and torque curves of other 1150 models and see if any of these are what you'd like . My 1150 has the standard cams fitted at the moment, I'll be able to make a decision on what needs changing after I've seen the first dyno results.
My 1100 is set up for top-end, although the bottom end drive feels just as strong. I've used 'S' camshafts and vernier sprockets to adjust the cam timing.
The engine pulls stongly until 9K rpm when the limiter cuts in, the 1100 is cosiderably quicker than the standard 1150, and, on acceleration, equal to the 1200GS.
The modified 1150 cylinder heads gained 18% in flow so I'm looking forward to seeing how that translates to useability on the road.
