Morocco Micro SD card.... quick question.

Hi all,

Does anyone know if the Garmin Micro SD cards with mapping can be uploaded into mapsource or does the card have to be plugged in to your satnav to work?

Reason for asking is there are a few of us going to Morocco soon and one of the guys has the Garmin MicroSD card with the Morocco mapping on it and I was wondering if I could copy or transfer the data without having to have the micro SD plugged into my zumo as then I wont be able to have my music SD card in the Zumo.

If you read the Garmin blurb

The SD card cannot be copied, cannot be transfered to the computer but

the SD card itself can be moved from device to device.

The SD card needs to be in the device and this device needs to be attached to the computer to use Mapsource

Cheers for that I thought as much but was hoping that as it was on a card it could be uploaded as a file to mapsource with an unlock code and used again as the discs are

Oh well, worth a try I guess

Have you checked out the OpenStreetMap project? Not sure about Morocco but it seems pretty comprehensive for the areas I've downloaded and tried.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I am having a problem getting mapping onto an SD card for my Zumo 550.

Nowhere can I see the option to save to card.

In words of one syllable please........how the hell do you do it?

I think Olafs maps are better thought of than Garmin http://www.island-olaf.de/travel/marokko/gps.html
