Moto Guzzi classics

True, but the footrests are miles too far forward.

Well, there's the thing. I got a good deal on some LM Tarozzi rearsets shortly after I bought my LM nearly a decade ago, but when I did a trial mounting, I realised that my long thigh boned legs set my knees (esp. the left) onto the rocker covers, so I had to give up on that. I don't find the crouch too bad, though. (Of course, for those with shorter thighs, I should think that rearsets are a good solution.)

Something about "The Tank Shop" ally work that does appeal.
Once again, despite the Tonti architecture, not quite a classic but my 1100 rumbles along quite nicely.

Not quite a classic, but not too shabby

I think I also saw that in Hawes yesterday,

S3 and 750S footrests are the same as 850T and T3 and are even further forward than a le mans.
my own le mans is fitted with the standard footrests, as i find the tarrozzi items visually unappealing and are far too easy to snap off.

Ah-ha, now all is clear. A quick flick through the pics in the Falloon book confirms it. I hadn't noticed that before, having never ridden an S / S3. No doubt a De Tomaso cost saving standardisation measure, 'cos my early production V7 Sport has a similar setup to my LM, just a tad further forward (which means left knee / cylinder head contact on heavy braking, but otherwise OK).

I had a meal in Pulci Pizza in Poulton Le Fylde last night. I had a Moto Guzzi shirt on. The owner asked me if I had one so I showed him the pic of my T3 Cali on the blackberry. He asked if he could borrow it for a minute. Moments later the Chef emerged from the kitchen all excited, and explained to me in a very strong Italian accent that he has Mk 1, 2 and 3 Le Mans and I think another model also, but he was a little difficult to understand!
The food was excellent by the way:thumb2

You have to be careful of Moto Guzzis, they can go from a hobby to a religion :D

Just spotted this on ebay.......................

Get rid of the red and the wrap, a few other minor tweaks and that could be quite nice (and that ain't no T3 front end :))

I wonder what it'll go for :nenau

Here's another one............

............looks to me to be basically well sorted, not much time and money to turn into something really nice.

Looks from his comments that he'll take £3k or there abouts for it too which has to be a good price :)

Cor!... this Guzzi single racer is rather gorgeous.

I don't know enough about singles (not near my Walker MG singles book at the moment) but there's no external (or 'covered' New Falcone style) flywheel, so is that some sort of factory racing only engine?

I've had a good read through Mario Colombo's Guzzi 'bible' and there's no mention of (or pictures) of the bacon slicers being removed on any of the factory racers :nenau

Thanks, Andres. The right side of the engine looks 'Nuovo Falcone' normal, but the left appears to be a neat replacement of NF covered bacon slicer arrangement with a suitable casting (which somehow looks vaguely Japanese). Shame there's no close up.

Incidentally, NLM have a very interesting collection of Guzzi singles at the moment.

I've always fancied a white NF Civiliane... that's a lovely example they have at them moment, but quite a steep price!

In all my biking years I've never yet owned a Guzzi and for the last month I've been trying to rectify this, but no joy as yet.
I'm looking for a V50 as I reckon that should be a good entry point and I also want it to be vintage eligible which means it must be at least 25 years old.
So if you happen to have one of these beasts that needs a new home then please feel free to pm me.
Thank you.
