Moto Guzzi classics

Is a mk1.5 Le Mans really worth £12.5k?

No, not if there was one on every street corner in that condition.

But there isn't. And in 5 years time that'll look cheap.

Of course you could always buy a cheaper Le Mans and restore it, that would only cost you around £15k for a proper job and the bike.
And even then you'd have a restoration job which won't be as valuable as an original unrestored immaculate example.

i've seen a couple of road legal ones, but spares might be an issue. wouldn't want to bin one.

anyway, there's few nicer bikes to look at :)

trouble is, after the mk2 le mans, guzzi must have fired the entire design department and got the toilet cleaners to do the styling instead. the mk3's ok, but it's the beginning of the end.

good design returned with griso IMO, and tbh is still somewhat patchy. cali stone was mercifully devoid of stupid chrome embellishment.

Here's a bit of a sweetie on ebay at the moment :)

Favourite thread tag :)

I want another (older) Guzzi.

So do a lot of people by the looks of the prices over the last couple of years.
Even tatty V50`s are fetching well over a grand. It wasn`t long ago that you could get a tidy one for that amount.
More fun than money in the bank though:thumb2

I was saying just the same to someone earlier. Not that its the reason I want one but I really only see old Guzzi prices going one way. Wish I had £4k spare last week for the mk2/1 that went on ebay for £3600. Really like the old Cali's like Steppers bike too.

I felt the same a couple of years ago after a visit to the factory and I now have this in the garage. I really enjoy just looking at it!

The vendor notes that the swannecks are non-standard (would normally be clip-ons on the S3), but they are odd because they sit and slide above the headlight bracket (which 'droops' up, rather than down) and look like they slide in the bracket, rather than the bracket sliding on the stanchions. Must have been a contemporary accessory or something.

Not a bad bike, the S3.

Hmmm,Hmmm;A fine example of a Guzzi.
Add it to your stable today......
