Motorrad Navigator

Hi,

When I bought my GS (second owner) it was fitted with a Motorrad Navigator II. I have all the software and codes and it all seems to work ok except--- it keeps turning it's self off. Sometimes it stays on for days other times it turns on and off every couple of minutes. I have checked all the connections and every thing seems ok. If I put a meter on the feed this is also ok.

1. Has anybody else had a similar problem. Is it a problem with the unit?

2. Where can I get it checked out and is it worth it? or should I buy a new one.

My StreetPilot 2720, which is very similar in construction to the Navigator II, had a problem a few months ago. I thought it was finally kaput. However, I discovered that it was grit trapped between the screen an the bezel which kept activating the touch screen. It was completely unusable. It didn't turn the unit off though but I suppose it depends on which part of the screen is being pressed.

I read that using a dampened tooth brush would clear it out but instead I took it to pieces and cleaned it properly. No problems since. Might be worth a go.
