Anyone got any idea when the new version of the 1200 GS Motorradconcepts hugger will be available?

I emailed my enquiry but yet to receive a response.

Need one, love one, want one! :D

I've asked this question before, mate, and just get told that news of its availability will be posted on their website. I think the first suggestions were that the hugger would be ready in April... I guess that shows how hard they're having to work to get it right.

Like you, I really fancied their new hugger, but having ridden for 5 months without one, I don't think I'll bother unless it's a really cool product :)

Hugger no longer available

I phoned Motorrad Concepts a month or so ago to find out when their new hugger would be available and was told they have taken a business decision not to produce them. Damn shame I say.

I had the same answer from Dutch at Motorrad Concepts. Apparently production costs were going to be too high. There is a chance of another company taking on the mkII design. Bought myself the Wunderlich which I willbe fitting over weekend. Looks good, but I think carbon is a bit OTT on a GS. Maybe carbon was needed for rigidity with the single sided mount arrangement :nenau

I bought a hugger this time last year, used for a trip to France and rubbed the shoulder off the rear tyre. Took it off and contacted Motorradconcepts, and was told I would get a replacement. Have chased them in the past, only to be told they would contact me.

Having now read the above I have contacted them again, and had it confrimed that they will not producing the hugger. I will now be getting a refund.

I have read good reports on here about their customer service and I can only think that they were working through a list of people and contacting them, and that they would have reached me.

In the meantime it was a good job that this link appeared.

Cheers

Was waiting for this also and gave up in the end :(

Went for the Carbon Fibre Wunderlich version bought and fitted 'on site' in the Fatherland a few weeks ago and I'm well chuffed :D :thumb

Yeah, if only to stop the rest of us waiting :mmmm . It's no big deal, I suppose, but it's a pity they didn't do what they said they would do and post the news first on their website.

On the positive side, it's saved me a fair amount of cash! :thumb

The decision to discontinue the R1200GS hugger/development of the MKII version was only taken very recently.

We will, of course, be making an an announcement on our website as soon as we can.

Of possible interest to prospective customers is the fact that we are currently in negotiation with two European manufacturers who have expressed interest in taking over the project.

If all goes to plan our basic hugger design will be reincarnated by a manufacturer better able to deal with the production difficulties & quality control issues we previously experienced.

Don't expect any such product to be announced prior to Intermot this coming Autumn.

Cheers

Dutch
