I'm now booked for my first visit to Morocco in late April. My earlier plans to stay in Larache and Azrou have changed slightly and I'm now planning to stay in Asilah and Moulay Idriss and just poke around a bit. As an RT rider I'm not heading for the pistes but to soak up a bit of ordinary everyday Moroccan life. I plan to cross from Tarifa to Tangier, staying just outside Tarifa at a place called Fawlty Fincas - Must be run by a Brit! I'm travelling alone.

Any comment or feedback from old hands would be welcome, particularly about Moulay Idriss. I know what the guidebooks and web tell me about it and have booked in at a place called Dar Zerhoune via Hostelworld.com. It seems interesting in its own right and a good base to explore perhaps Volubilis, Meknes and maybe a ride out to Azrou and the cedar forests. At this stage I'm inclined to save Fez for later. I should arrive there on a Friday evening and I believe it's market day on the Saturday.

I'm used to doing big miles in Europe and my overall plan is:

Norfolk to Bordeax - 1 night
Bordeaux to Salamanca - 2 nights
Salamanca to Tarifa - 1 night
Tarifa - ferry - Asilah - 2 nights
Asilah - Moulay Idriss - 4 nights
Moulay Idriss -ferry - Tarifa - 1 night
Tarifa - Gandia 2 nights (visiting my Bro - handy)
Gandia - Huesca (where I've been before) - 1 night
Huesca - Limoges - 1 night
Limoges - home
Go round again ? I wish.

I've never been to Faulty Fincas but I read a report somewhere. It's run by a British couple Simon and Carol. It's a bit in the sticks and I worked out the GPS coordinates are approximately N36 04.212 W5 36.182

Bit worried about spending four nights in Moulay Idriss--there's not a lot going on there, however that's your call. Have a good time and report back with how you got on.
