Oregon Back Country Discovery Route #4 – Sisters To Seneca.
Tummies full and gas tanks filled – We begin the OBCDR #4.
Well we will as soon as Al picks his bike up – Sheehsss Al couldn’t you at least wait until
we hit the trail
On our way – Jeffer’s - Loud Al - Odie
Route #4 takes you from Sisters north to the southern side of Lake Billy Chinook
Back into the high country and heading south east towards Prinville, once there
We gassed up after a short rest stop.
Heading east
Seems we tried to do the route at the wrong weekend as there were forest fires
which closed down a part of the northern section of the route –Doh!
Looking at our GPS’s / maps and getting some advice from Cathy a forest service
worker, we decided to do a little detour, but then detoured our detour and ended up
heading towards Paulina which is NOT on the route
- As it was getting late and
pretty hot, something like 90 degree’s we decided to head into Senaca via pavement.
Approx 20 miles from Seneca Odies bike gives up the ghost and dies. He checked the
oil to find he had NO oil – “Insert grown man crying sounds here” .
We took a vote and decided not to walk him into the forest and leave him there.
In stead Jeffer’s pulls out a tow rope and helps his fellow KLR buddy. Also at this
point Buck-Shot Bob went ahead to Bear Cat Lodge to see if he could get some help
rolling our way.
Seven miles from Seneca, Bob arrives with JW from the lodge in a truck with some oil.
Bob fill’s up the KLR’s motor, but alas it was too late to save her
Time for the truck ride – This is usually how I end my rides, so I know how he’s
feeling – Hang tuff Odie, everything happens for a reason.
Insert photo of running BMW Dakar and rider J to relieve the pain.
Minutes later we are all at Bear Cat Lodge safe and sound.
JW and Carol were great host – after a long hot dusty ride it felt good reaching
a place that is motorcycle friendly. Before long we had showered and given a
tour of the lodge.
They have a couple of Bob-Cats there too – Kinda cool to get up close to them.
If your planning on riding out that way, give JW a call http://www.bearcatlodge.com/
Drinkers delight
JW cooks up some tasty treats – after dinner we are treated to some sounds.
Bob Cats
Momma cat sticks her head into Al’s boot – big mistake if you want to ask me
Yep, she agrees
After a night of eating, drinking and relaxing we wake up to a new day and the trip home.
All in all this was an excellent trip and great fun. Thanks everyone!
Sorry to cut this report short, but it appears I have hurt my wrist and need to go to the doctors
