Has anyone heard of BM recommending dealers not to fit huggers from the rear calliper bolts on the 12GS, as Mottorad concepts ones used to?

Cheers

Quite the opposite.....

We were advised by BMW that mounting to the caliper bolts would not present a problem with warranty, as the caliper is essentially a user accessible item. We supplied longer stainless steel bolts for this purpose.

We were told categorically NOT to mount anything on the end of the rearward torque arm bolt, as other manufacturer(s) have done.

Our mounting method was not the reason we recalled our rear hugger, it was something to do with the carbon fibre element.

When we offer this item for sale again in the New Year, whether it be Carbon Fibre or injection moulded plastic, it will most definately be mounted via our patented arm.

Purchasers of our rear hugger will be provided with documentary evidence to support the above advice.

Cheers

My dealer (NOG) supplied me with my hugger and although I fitted it myself, they checked it today for torque tightness and all was ok. They didn`t mention anything about not mounting huggers from rear calliper bolts and I`m sure they wouldn`t sell this product if wasn`t ok. If it turns out that this is the case, then I`m sure I would get a full refund, having bought it from a BM dealer.

This would probably be more difficult, if bought from someone else.

I`m happy to deal with NOG, they are a great bunch a lads and are always helpful. (they also provide an excellent hot drinks service by Zu, just what you need on these cold winter days).

Not sure how the Imberger one fits, but just opened a letter from my local BMW dealer offering "advance ordering".

Huggers

:) I have the linberger hugger from Sandbar composites fitted with no problem . It mounts on both the caliper bols and the torque arm bolt but has a small spacer on the later to enable correct tightening of the bolt whilst still allowing movement , it was a perfect fit and has caused no problems , IT EVEN keeps the shock etc clean !

Hi John I dont know about a recall but I believe tha mine was the first in the country of the new type, I'm very pleased with it from a performance point of view but might spray it as notsure if I like the carbon effect. Mike
