Mounting plate for Monokey Top Box

I have the Alu plate on my GSA used the plastic one for my 58L Trekker on my XR and it was loose and made a lot of noise. With the Alu plate it is quite and secure and quite a bit lower as the missus now wants a back pad due to the difference in height compared to the XR. But that may be the height of the back rack I did not have the metal for the other bike.

the plastic one fits EVERYTHING it has a lot of slits that allow it to be fited to any kind of rack

The model specific plastic rack also includes steel reinforcement plates which fit beneath the rack. It looks ugly, but works fine, even when heavily loaded on tour with a dozing wife leaning against it

Main concern I have is that both the plastic and metal say - / max. additional load 6 kg

So 6kg total in the topbox...

When you say the specific version is that the plastic (sr5108) or the alu (sra508) version? I take it that the one you're ruling out is the universal mount?

I thought the universal was an adaptor that you then needed the plate on top of?

I'm looking at one of these.

GIVI SR5108

I'm not sure to be honest!

I've now seen tha altrider luggage plate with a givi monokey kit to allow it to take the givi/kappa top box. Looks a bit more flexible and able to take dry bags as a simple luggage rack and the main reason for choosing it over the Givi options is that there doesn't seem to be the low weight limit. Cost for the plate and the monokey kit is around £130. Bit more expensive but might be worth it for those reasons.

Hmm your definition of a bit..

I have both the Trekker 52L and an Outback 58L. The outback 58L is the grand daddy of all top boxes. Never comes of my GSA except when I need the additional carrying capacity on my KTM1190.

The universal E251 just needs a rack on which to fit it. The fittings seem to be very versatile and has fitted racks to a Tiger 955i air cooled GSA's and now on a Yamaha TTR250.

The SRA5112 clamps directly onto the standard GSA rack and I assume the SRA5108 does as well.

So for flexibility, the E251 would be the best then, as it goes on anything? £34 ish - however givi warns that you should only use if there isn't a bike kit, have you got a picture of it on a GS?
The SRA5112 is £110 and looks like a complete rack if you've got no top box mount at all. (for the fat gs)
SRA5108 is the aluminium slim gs version.

SR5108 however is the £75 plastic one, if you don't want to pay double for a aluminium version.
