I've looked around for about two months looking at my options for mounting panniers on the 1150gs with already having GSA 1200 BMW Ali panniers in the man shed, I didn't want to have two sets of panniers around the house, I've been pricing the the racks from motorworks,,,,,,not cheap,,,,, so i picked up a set of racks for about £100, I've started to cut away the mounting brackets, the only bracket to stay was the one that clamps around the frame as that one can be used to attach to the middle frame mount on the 1150, the other mounts that I cut off will be used too.
I will need to cut and shape the mounts but not a lot of work to do really just need to weld them back on to the rack that will be done next week.

Two of the top mounts are short, after deciding not to make two new one I inserted some 14mm round bar in side to give it strength then attached a small piece to extend it to make the right size then welded it.

I may powder coat it after or if it looks ok then I may leave it

All cut toning and shaping done I'll be off the the weld shop on Wednesday
The way I've mounted the brackets I can still put the boxes on the bike before I've welded the brackets,

All done thanks to a good m8 with a welder,
Total cost of this project £90 for the racks, done most of the work myself with a favour from a m8 for the welding
