I am possibly getting a 2008 R1200RT and want to mount my TomTom on it.
I have seen two OEM mounts one that bolts between the handlebars and one on a 2010 model that fits above the clocks using the two mounting screws. Will the mount from the 2010 model fit the 2008 bike.

All help and advise appreciated as usual

This may be the one you have seen mounted to the top of the dash, above the clocks

I inherited one with my R12RT - it looks OK, but requires two holes to be drilled, and the dash dismantled to insert a hidden mounting plate under the external bracket.

Robust, but inelegant.

I have one for sale if you are interested. It' the type that mounts between the handlebars. Pics in the FS section. Thanks

If you are talking about the Wunderlich kit, then no, the 2010 kit will not fit the 2008 bike. I have fitted one to my '09, which it transpired had bits of '10 bike on it. Nippy Normans were kind enough to send me a '10 kit when I showed them my problem, I had to use one component from the '10 kit to get the rest of the pre '10 kit to work. My TomTom sits just nicely under the screen, so close I have to lift the screen to get it off. I didn't have to drill any holes to fit the Wunderlich kit.

The ones I have seen are the original BMW ones as there are two screws already on the top. I prefer my Sat Nav above the clocks in line of sight similar to how I had it mounted on my GS I will try and post some pics later.

Well I got the bar cheap off eBay and the other bits from the dealer and for a total outlay of £25 and little bit of fettling and trimming of the mount I've fitted it on the bike. Just got to solder the BMW repair cable to the TomTom power lead and route it on the bike. Pics to follow shortly.
