Mousses for enduro bikes..

Hi all,

I want to stick mouses in the wheels of my Husaberg. How do ppl go about selecting them apart from just the size? I have seen that pirrelli do some as well as michelin and then I saw the tyreballs.

What is the general consensus on the above?

We have only ever used Michelin. What tyres are you using?
The michy mousses can be a tight fit in other makes of tyre due to a different profile of the carcas. If you are putting a rear trials tyre you need the 140 mousse, and possibly a old tube wrapped round as well to fill the tyre.
We have wanted to try the tyre balls but the cost has put us off!!!!
If you keep the mousse lubed then they generally last a couple of years.

Slightly off topic...I believe Michelin advise against using rim locks with their mousses.

I found the rear tyre was spinning on the rim on my bike so fitted one...it was still spinning it turned out that whoever fitted the tyre had broken the bead, it cost me two laps of the Cambrian Rally

I'll continue to use at least two rim locks when mousses are fitted on my rallye bike though.

When using mousses on my ktm450exc I use michelin mousses and michelin enduro comp tyres (www.racespec.co.uk) with no rim lock
but use rubber tube less valve in rim (with out valve) to blow up and seat tyre on rim have had no tyre spin have compeleted many enduro D2D Dyfi powys Wesh 2 day 450 has alot less power than rally bike

rim locks

on the HP2 i use one rim lock on the rear and have had no problem , once the bead of the tyre is good

dont look at Pirelli or Dunlop mousses ( I have Dunlop Mousses front for sale ? ) and i have no experiance with Tyre Balls although i dont like mousses on the front wheel of the Beemer , I think the bike and me are Too heavy and might try Tyre ball instead

Michelin are the only mousses to use and they dont have a lot of sizes and generally the only ones you will be offered are the off road ones

Yep, we always use rim lock on the rear. On our sidecar we used to use two.
Makes fitting a mousse a bugger though!!
We usually stock Michy tyres and Mousses but am out at the moment.
