I am moving to Connecticut, USA in October. I will be bikeless for the winter but will hopefully buy a new GS in the spring. Is there anyone on here from the area who could point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Not sure which part of CT you are living, but the main dealer for this area is Cliffs Cycles. http://cliffscyclerevolution.com/

I have visited a few times when I lived in the US and a very nice bunch of guys. In addition and not so far away is the best dealer in my opinion in the world and that is Max BMW www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com. Max, Katie and the team are awesome and really helpful, you will be amazed to have free service pick ups and storage offered for your bike in your time there.

Obviously, if you are looking for a deal on a bike, sometimes www.advrider.com or www.Craigslist.com are good, especially if you keep an eye out regularly, I got some great deals from both.

The roads around you are awesome and I am sure if you go and introduce yourself the Advrider lot and also Cliff and Max they will be very happy to point you in the right direction with meets and parties.

Enjoy the cold winter and spring comes around April and season finishes in later October early November or if you are careful and have some heated gear you can ride year round.

Hope it helps, Nick

Thanks Commuter,
Very useful, we are moving to south east CT so a nice ride out to cliffs wont be too far.
Don't ride in the winter in UK so bike will be tucked up in the garage over winter.

Not sure if it will still be there next summer, but Marcus Dairy in Danbury on Sunday mornings is about as close as we get (on the east coast anyway) to the Ace Cafe. A biker's hangout since the end of WWII, hundreds of bikes of all kinds show up at this spot for breakfast and the usual bike chat. Bad news is that the location, formerly a milk distributor, has been sold to a mall developer. But no closing date has been given as far as I know.

I'm already over here in the USA and you are quite right in thinking that you won't be riding in the Winter, let's just say it gets a little more extreme over here. Good time to buy though.

Firstly join the BMWMOA group, some are complete jingoistic U! S! A! twats, but others are genuinely helpful folks who don't want to shoot strangers.

They'll put you on to the right routes and you may even find a bargain bike.

I'm t'otherside of the USA in Washington State. It's a big place and the geography and geology are spectacular, you'll enjoy the riding season.

Loved the ride I had into Taos, from over the hills (13k ft) Wheeler Peak way, Cimmarron Pass is it? One of the nicest roads I've ridden.
