I have been asked by my daughter to " clip " the intro' off an Mp3 music file stored on the PC. She wants to then download it ( via bluetooth ) to her phone, to be used as a ring tone.

I have messed about cutting music for home DVDs using " Multitrackstudio" but the free version does not support Mp3s.

Sounds easy enough, but I need a bit of software to shorten the track.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

I used a trial version (14 days) of a prog called 'MP3 Audio Wizard' to do simillar for my daughter last week......I shortened it as a .wma file then converted it using the prog to MP3, but you can rip an MP3 back to .WMA using it then stick it in your 'Multitrackstudio' to shorten....then change it back to MP3 ;)

There's almost certainly a freebie MP3 editor out there though.....I'd spend some time Googling ;)

I have done exactly that in the past for home DVDs....convert Mp3 to Wav/Wma, then use Multitrackstudio to shorten the file, then convert back to Mp3........I was just hoping that something had come along to make life a bit easier. Once an idle git.............................. :D

Thanks for the reply.....time to start googling............ :thumb

I have found this......seems to do the trick. I the (unlikely) event that anyone should want to cut up mp3 files to use as ringtones on phones, give it a go.
