I know that i can make mp3 versions of any of the songs in my iTunes library by going through them 1x1 and using the drop down menu.
BUT, is there a method of making mp3 versions in a new folder / library en mass.?

maybe theres a bit of software out there that could do this?

cheers

if you're using a mac, XLD is what you want. dunno if there's a windaz version, but there must be something similar.

looking at the reviews that looks just the job cookie.

i downloaded , it etc but all i get is 'terminal' TBH, i'm pretty much stuffed without a GUI

there is a GUI, but now i come to think of it, it's not terribly obvious.

not got it in front of me, so from memory: open the app from the Applications folder, then drop the files you want converted onto the icon in the dock. that starts conversion and brings up a window that shows progress.
slight strangeness here as it converts to whatever the default settings are. if these aren't what you want, then you need to go to XLD Preferences and set them - format, quality etc. then whatever you drop onto the icon gets converted with those settings.

i hope that's correct :)

OK ta!

lets give that a go..

edit: those steps were just about correct cookie. works great for a track not actually 'in' iTunes ..... i can't drag a file from within iTunes onto the icon - well i can, but it tells me the file is not supported.
after some googling i think 'Tuneclone' may be something worth looking at.

thanks for your help

Take the file from the iTunes Music folder where all the music is stored in easy to find folders starting with Artist. It's found something like User, Music, iTunes, iTunes Music.
