Hi you all, I fitted a MRA vario screen on my R1100GS at the weekend.

One annoying drawback is the light from the headlight reflecting up the inside of the screen.

There is a Touratech headlight protector fitted

Have any of you fitted anything to reduce/stop this light reflection?

I don't have a headlight protector fitted and haven't noticed any noticeable reflection on the inside of my vario screen (perhaps a slight rim of light on the inside face of the screen in the area directly adjacent to the headlight, but barely noticeable).

I guess it could well be something to do with light reflecting off the back of the protector and back behind the screen - with the vario not having a close fit around the headlight, it'll be more susceptible to this compared to the standard screen. Acrylic protectors are renowned for robbing quite a lot of light from the headlight - I guess you've discovered where the lost light goes...

You could try temporarily removing the protector to confirm if this is the case?

do you have any protection for your head light ?

I must admit I don't.

I have a piece of 4mm lexan which I bought a year ago to make one (can't make myself pay TT prices) but I haven't got round to it. I guess I'll regret my procrastination if I get a stone through my headlight

I did get some reflection back from the edge of the headlight protector, so to overcome this I got a small paintbrush, and painted the edge with matt black blackboard paint. Problem solved:augie

I get a little reflection up the inside, only a slight nuisance really though, I may try painting the edge myself. or maybe slip some edge trim or split pipe on the area surrounding the headlight.

I did this a few years ago when I had one fitted to my 1150
Might be possible to do a similar thing to the 1100 headlight
As said by NeilDD
painting the edge of the plastic with Black paint
Work's a treat !
