Mudsling or hugger?

Mudsling. Huggers don't do much on a GS, however infill panels do, a lot.
The Mudsling keeps the area around the rear shock clean, infill panels help keep you and your pillion clean from all the crap that comes swirling up around the back of your legs.

Mudsling to protect the shock, infill panels to take away a chunk of the spray etc from wet riding.

Went for the Wunderlich side in-fill panels and their version of mudsling, they work well

I fitted a second hand hugger. Did something?
Mudsling much better for rear suspension protection.
Infill panels, or infill bags, are a good addition as keep trousers much cleaner.

I had both on my 2021 GS. I loved the look of the hugger but the supporting bracket broke after 6 months. It's just wrong design and being supported onto shaft link bolt is simply wrong. And it could lead to a disaster. Fortunately, I saw that it was fully cracked but not completely shuttered yet. That saved me, as I have removed the hugger immediately and have never looked back again. And as I said, I miss the look of it, just that. Mudsling does all the job keeping the suspension clean.

All three! Ilimberger carbon fibre hugger mounted on the cardan drive that reduces water spray, genuine mudsling that extends further down at the leading edge which provides protection to the suspension unit and the central face of the swing arm and BMW infill panels affixed to the frame to further reduce and contain water within the wheel space.

As I said previously, I love the look of the hugger but just couldn't accept Ilimberger carbon hugger. A friend of mine has it his GS and it just looks like it doesn't belong there. If it was made of some material other than carbon I'd be their first customer. Ilimberger has different design and no bracket to brake. Very smart but I just don't like the look of carbon fiber on the bike that has no other part with that kind of look.

The mudsling does work well in keeping the rear shock area clean, and I bought the cheap copy one.

I’m trying to find a mudslinger copy but am confused by the models.

My bike is a 67 plate GS.

The genuine Mudslinger @ 150 quid fits everything from 2013 onwards but copies sometimes have year specific models.

Do you think it’s safe to assume they’ll fit everything as well?

Yes they will fit all LC models.
I fitted a nice cheap shit Chinese copy because I was going to have to butcher it so it would fit with the PUIG infill panels as they use some of the same mounting points.
My Chinese rubbish has now done 60,000mls across two bikes and still doing it's job properly.

I have just purchased and fitted one from m&p via eBay
Quality is good and easy to fit £25.00 delivered
