I have this combination on my 2008 GSA but had to trim about 40mm from the leading edge of the hugger as it had rubbed through against the tyre on full suspension travel and worn through the carbon fibre. I would suspect that the WC bikes would probably do the same.

thanks for the info Adam, if thats whats needed to trim the hugger as on the early models to make the mudsling fit its fine, i just want max protection to stop that cheap paint finish falling off

You could fit both then test ride loaded with luggage fitted (assuming you have it) and see if it rubs.
In my case I was touring Scotland and every time I hit a large bump or undulating road section I could both hear and feel the hugger rubbing whilst sandwiched between mudsling and tyre.
Once home again the fine bladed hacksaw and smooth file came to the rescue and trimmed it down just enough to lose the worn-through carbon area.
