Hi all;

I am looking for some advice with regards to my 1150 gs switching off just after 2 minutes (during the warm up); after that the warning signal of the battery and oil warning light switch on. It has not have oil leaks. The bike has oil, but i haven't change it for 1 year, nor the filter. Could that be the reason? It seems like if the oil might not be "circulating" well....

I could take it to the mechanic straight away, however if this is not a major issue any advice would be very welcome....

Many Thanks

Pipe

Hi Pipe,

You may want to ask in the 850/1100/1150 section as the technical experts don't tend to look in here too much.

Does the bike stop after 2 minutes and then can't be started again, or can you restart it and ride?

Hi Pipe

I think you will find that the collective wisdom on here will suggest that you don't do a "warm up". Just get on and ride it. You have to remeber that these are air cooled engines, without a flow of air they overheat very quickly. I am sure someone will come along with a more technical answer, but the basic advice will be don't let it stand still.

Is your clock resetting or does the motor stop when you turn the bars?.

Thanks

Thanks all..

Basically it switch off and does not allow me to start it again; the failure lights remains on in the dash board. The temparature does not even reach the level one on the borad and switch off before heath up properly; i could put my hands on the side where the sparkplug are and i can keep it as it is not that hot at the time it switch off.... Could it be something realted with the oilf filter stopping the oil to circulate properly?...

I would ride it inmediately and i was very tempted to do it; however i am scare it could cause a bigger damage...

I will look at the manual.. Thoughts pls Thanks all
