My 1150 GSA engine just doesnt sound right and feels sluggish. Can anyone help?

I was just being daft posting that, but in reality it IS being a bit sick at the moment

New coil stick fixed a failure a little while back, but the bike just isnt pulling liek it used to, slight hesitation hard acceleration - kinda feels liek its holding back a little and lmost seems strangled. Hard to put a finger on it. Starts lovely, all the time. New plugs x 4 (yes Twin spark) 2003 GSA.
Wonder if the fuel filter is a bit mucky - havent serviced that forabout 5 years / 20000miles at least.
Dunno what it is but its spoiling it for me - AND i did the valves / end float etc and it sounds tappety tappety again.
Have i just fogot how agricutural they are :)

What reading are you getting at the TPS?
Plugs all clean and the right colour?
Air filter ok, no meeces in your box?

It does sound like coil pack/s, but weak fuel pump, bad fuel, TPS setting or fouled plugs could all produce the same symptoms.

Yes they are agricultural, but they should pull fairly smoothly up the range even if it's not as hard as the 1200.

Having had great fun with failing coils on my 1200 it's where I would start the search. The symptoms are far from clear cut.
If posh petrol helps it might just be the fuel system needed a clean. It also runs a cooler exhaust so less stress on the valves and usually costs less per mile.

My 04' 1150GSA was doing this until recently, bottom end was fine so it started and ran smoothly around town but the mid range was crap and top end felt strangled! Turned out to be a sticky coil breaking down under load...
I had been getting more backfiring (unburnt petrol going into the exhaust getting ignited on the over run when the coil occasionally started working again), I was also getting one cylinder/header pipe getting much hotter than the one with the good coil. Oh, and the weak side plug was a little bit sooty and richer looking.

Can you maybe borrow a couple of 'good working order' coils from anyone to try so that you can eliminate the simple stuff first, these coils seem to fail so it may be that the other coil is on it's way out now as well?

New coils on my bike and a proper TB balance = it goes like sh1t off a shovel and pulls clean and strong all the way.

Off to Europe next week and packing a spare stick coil anyway's :thumb

Hope you get sorted out soon.

helpful advice - thanks
i cleaned the air filter too as the kielder K2 big biek challenge was bloody dusty - biek feels a little better.
Def lumpy acceleration under load and wide open throttle.

TPS? no idea how to check that voltage, i'll do a search :) assume i just need my voltmeter sticking on something somewhere then!
cheers again all
