hi all,
after having the tank removed and repainted , and fitting a Y
piece and remus race can my bike will rev clean to 3k rpm and then it just splutters and backfires , i have checked all fuel lines and they seem to be clear of any debris, i have removed fuel line from left hand injector and there appeared to be some grit , could this have blocked the injector does any body know whats causing
the problem i have. cheers andy

Andy,
Did you make sure that the fuel lines (internal and external ones) were reconnected exactly the same way round as they came off. Could cause this if the wern’t.

As you've had the tank off, is it possible you've mixed up the two fuel lines from the tank?

I seem to remember somebody saying that you get a vacuum in the tank if you do this, which might cause fuel starvation.

Of course, this may have been on an 1100 and may not apply. Wiser techies will probably tell you different.

to the last 2 replies.
i was pretty sure i did put them back correct , i marked them clear enough , but to be sure i tried them the other way round and it won't run atall that way , swopped them back and still the same , could the fuel filter detereorate if left out of fuel ? as the tank was dry for about 3 weeks. cheers

Did you disconect the battery at all while you were Fertling about?
If you did, did you then re-calibrate the TPS?

I raised my tank on the 1150 to gain access to the battery to attach a hard wired optimate lead.

When I strated the bike up it ran fine, until I got out on the road and tried to accelerate when all went pear shaped.

I turned around and rode home. Imagining the possibility of trapped fuel hose or wire.

Whilst checking that the plug leads were attached correctly I noticed that the throttle cable on the right hand side (as you sit on the bike) was adrift i.e. the plastic sheath was wedged outside the metal hoop that it should pass through.

Effectively the 2 cylinders were receiving unequal amounts of fuel as the throttle bodies were being opened by different amounts.

I popped the cable back into position and all worked well.

HTH
