My ass can`t take it anymore.

Its the same with cycling. If you haven't been on a bicycle for a while, your arse will hurt. After a few rides you get used to it. Exactly the same with a motorbike saddle.

The secret of avoiding arse ache.

Don't wait until your arse is aching before standing up/ stretching etc etc, it's too late.

Every 20-30 miles grip the tank with your inner thighs/knees and lift your arse off the seat a couple of inches and hold it for 20 seconds before sitting back on the seat. Remember - every 20-30 miles before you start to ache.

Or get a corbin. :D

I'm getting mine done by Tony Archer, seems to come very highly recommended.

I've done 14k on mine in about 20 months, (F800GS), and my arse goes numb after about an hour or so on the bike, so it's next on my list to sort!

Just thought I'd ask if you got the seat from Tony and how it went? His workshop is a 10 min run from where I live coincidentally.:)

As a new GS rider I have found the seat horrible on my 09 bike, not what I expected because my previous BMW an R850R was very good:rob

I had to stop half way into a trip and attack the damping out rear because my bum was sore:( It helped a little so maybe it has to do with the suspension settings you guys run on.
I could not find any way of adjusting the front damping is there no way of doing this on a standard bike?

I suffered greatly when I first had my GSA. Took 2000 miles for me to get used to the seat or the seat to mold to me. The seat feels softer so probably the latter.

Now I can do 250 miles a day, non stop, without any trouble other than a bit of numbness which is cured by some moving about for a couple of miles.

Not sure who else has experienced this?

can't stand the stock seat on my gsa, nuts slapped against tank, back and pelvis at a stupid angle,it actually feels more comfy if i sit in reverse, makes riding a bit hazardous though.just ordered Sargent seats.of all the bikes i've had and ridden this is the worst seat by a long way.:friday

Seat

Well iI've put my money where my mouth is and gone to a Corbin from this site. Great, just like the 1150 which has had one for the last 80,000 odd miles instant comfort! so excited by the test run filled up with petrol with out my wallet!!.

My idea was poo poo'd before, but it works for me. I snowboard & use impact shorts, makes catching an edge and crashing so much more comfortable.

I now use them on the bike, so really earning their keep. Really do help to prevent bum going to sleep, balls ache less too! :D

At around £40 they are value for money for me.

I'm looking at either a Sargent or a Corbin, for a GSA. My stock seat's on high at the front and low at the rear and I'm just about OK height wise, but another 1cm would be too much.

Do the standard seats from either of the above make the seat height higher by being wider?

thanks!

Yes they do. I've ridden on a standard height Corbin and it's a fair bit wider than the OEM seat and therefore does make it more difficult to get your feet down. My own Sargent is the low version but even that is wider than standard and I have a bit more difficulty getting me feet down with it in comparison with the OEM low seat.

I loved the Sargent I had on my 12GS. I got numb bum after 50 miles on the stock seat. Tried the high seat to no avail, then an AirHawk which was much better. I didn't like the thought of leaving it on the bike and out of sight in fear of some thieving git making off with it and ended up buying the Sargent. Best mod I did to the GS. Plus when I sold the bike, I sold the seat to a guy here within three hours of posting.

Sargent are releasing a new seat for the Versys in May. Guess what I'm ordering ? :D

A new GS.....? :nenau
