My bike is the wrong colour

Hi all,

Dunno whats wrong with my bike but its not as yellow as it looks in the catalogue...

Its an 05 one and I've had it from new... I'm pretty sure it was the correct colour when i bought it, but now it seems more... well... muddyish

Do you think I could get it re sprayed under good faith as its clearly out of warranty...

Didn't the dealer tell you.......Muddy brown is the new yellow.

It's the grey weather. Once the sun comes out again it'll look yellower, yellowist, yellowerer....more yellow.

Shouldn't make any difference these days as the paints are all base coat and lacquer.

No goodwill for respraying from BMW... (I ve asked - mine's a yellow too, a different yellow from what it once was indeed... I ve got pics to prove it.. )

Bought myself a Baglux tank cover and bag so only see the vinyl now..

It's apparently not allowed to respray bikes other colours either.. BMW colourcode them apparantly and if one does change the main colours then they won't go through hpi etc.. or something on these lines...

But seriously, I always had the impression that there were different kinds of 'desert-yellow' around. Didn't know sunlight was such a bitch on colours.

Even thou the colour is prob Basecoat and clear, Clearcoat can change over a period of time.

If the clearcoat is “cheap” that means they have reduced the UV absorbers, hence the clearcoat will change colour. (go yellower/dirtier)

The better the clearcoat the better the UV resistance, cheap clearcoat can also delaminate too! (fall off!!! Even crack!)

Cheap Clears also use recycled thinners etc
