I don't post much personal stuff, but I just have to get this off my chest. My mother is 87, and hates bikes of all sorts. So bad was her hatred that aged 11 when I fell of my Christmas present on Xmas day, it was put away so I couldn't get at it.
When Elvie and I took to motor bikes I didn't tell her about passing my test, and owning a bike for well over a year. After a while she overcame her worries, and realised motorcycling was so important to us, and encouraged us to travel as widely as we could. All she asked was a phone call to let her know we were safe.
Before Xmas she underwent a hip replacement for arthritis, and made a great recovery, going supermarket shopping 6 weeks after the operation. Then she had a fall at home and broke her pelvis, and R shoulder. After 6 weeks in hospital she came home, and insisted she was ok to be left at home while we set off the Mexico to be with our son when he got married. Off we went and enjoyed the wedding and next day my cousin rang to say she had suffered another fall and broken her zygoma. She is stable, in hospital and I've been able to speak to her. All she wants to know is how the wedding went, and did the bride and groom look beautiful.
What can I say. No flights home from here for a couple of days, and even if there were, not sure it would achieve anything.
As I always say shit happens, but I think it's time it fell on someone else.
Don't really know why I posted this, but I just had to tell someone.
